The Waterkeepers Nepal 1st Meet was successfully conducted on 7th January 2018 at Kathmandu to discuss on the various agendas which will be helpful to reach the goals and objectives of the Waterkeepers Nepal. In the meeting Megh Ale, Karnali River Waterkeeper, Vimal Thapa, Seti River Waterkeeper, Mausam Khanal, Bagmati River Waterkeeper, Karmath Subedi, Sunkoshi River WaterKeeper, Karnali River Waterkeeper Affiliates, Mahendra Saru, Friend’s of Humla Karnali and Bhakta Bahadur Shahi, Friend’s of Bheri, Bagmati River Waterkeeper Affiliate, Sanu Maiya Maharjan, Friend’s of Bishnumati and the Board Members of Nepal River Conservation Trust (NRCT) were present.
The meeting was successfully concluded with many activities planning for this year. The discussed activities were the Karnali River Expedition 2018 which is going to held on this April, workshops and training regarding the river conservation and management, how to declare the Trishuli river as Nepal’s Heritage river, how to carry out river water quality monitoring etc. Also Mausam Khanal described to the new Waterkeeper Affiliates about how to carry out the patrolling to know about the condition of river. Some suggestions were also made for the Karnali River conservation such as conducting workshops regarding the river conservation to the community live nearby the rivers. The meeting had also decided to do some activities such as water quality monitoring and evaluation by collaborating with other organizations and Universities. The meeting also decided the next Waterkeepers Nepal meet will be organized on third week of July 2018.
