Sanu Maiya Maharjan is a staff member of Nepal River Conservation Trust. She graduated from Trihuvan University, Nepal, with a Masters degree in Environmental Science with Distinction in 2016. She has researched, trained in, studied and working on water systems and environmental areas in Nepal. She recently coordinated 2nd National River Summit for Nepal held on 16-19 March 2017. The Summit was designed to bring all stakeholders together for an inclusive dialog on the future management of river systems in Nepal to balance the increasing needs for hydropower, irrigation, domestic water supply, and recreation and to create comprehensive governance for usage and planning for the future. She is energetic, committed, adoptive and problem solving. She took a training of City Environment Volunteer on 2 – 4 April 2012 and worked as a volunteer during the Kathmandu Metropolitan city cleaning campaign (one week), Clean Kathmandu – our Kathmandu. The first of its kind, the campaign focused on making people aware about provisions in the Solid Waste Management Act (SWMA)-2011. She also participated in different workshop, seminar and conferences held in Kathmandu.

Selina Nakarmi is a student of Masters Degree in Environmental Science. She worked as a volunteer in 2nd National River Summit for Nepal held on 16 – 19 March 2017. Sanot Adhikari is currently a team leader of Youth Alliance for Environment (YAE). He graduated from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, with a Masters degree in Environmental Science with Distinction in 2010. He has researched, trained in, studied and worked on water systems, wildlife, climate change adaptation and environmental areas in Nepal. He worked as Environmental Monitoring Officer in Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) (Upper Trishuli Hydropower, 3A) from 2012 to 2014 as a consultant, team leader/member and Program coordinator in various environmental related projects. Sanot’s hometown is Mahakali VDC-5, Nuwakot, that is the upper stretch of Tadi River, which is the major tributary of Trisuli. He can easily do communication, aware the local community and patrol the Upper Trishuli River (Galchi to Rasuwa Gadhi) as Nuwakot district is 2 hours driving distance from Kathmandu.

Uttam Kandel is a local resident of Trishuli river in Dhading district where the sand mining is a serious problem. He is a leading activist of Save the Trishuli River, social mobilize, campaigner and educator in Dhading, Nuwakot and Gorkha Districts along the Trishuli river. He started to advocate against the rampant use of river more than a decade and has been continuing. He has been threatened by government agencies, local politicians many times during his campaign as it was against those illegal activities which are being conducted by the local miners who often are protected by the politicians and corrupt local bureaucrats. He is a local residence and deeply connected with Lower Trishuli River. Thus, he can actively and easily do communication and aware local people beyond his daily schedule regularly.

Mahendra Saru is an active member of Nepal River Conservation Trust. He is a resident of Resunga 13, Gulmi but now he lives in Kathmandu. He is a river guide by profession. He took a training of Wilderness first course and standard first aid and CPR from American Red Cross Society to enhance his river guiding work. He worked as river guide at Big – Smile Japan and currently at Ultimate Descents Nepal Pvt. Ltd, Thamel, Kathmandu. He was part of the Karnali River Expedition in 2017, recently organized by Borderlands Resort Pvt. Ltd. and National River Summit 2017 organized by Nepal River Conservation Trust. Though he is not a resident of Karnali, Mahendra is very much attached with the Karnali River. He actively joined the campaign called Save the Karnali organized by Megh Ale, Karnali River Waterkeeper. He visits Karnali frequently for rafting events. Thus, he can actively and easily communicate and interact with the local people and patrol the Humla Karnali.

Bhakta Bahadur Shahi is a local resident of Dailekh district, Karnali zone. He is a leading reporter of National Gorkhapatra in Dailekh district. He is a local resident and deeply connected with Karnali River. Thus, he can actively and easily communicate and raise awareness of the local people beyond his daily schedule. Bhakta can also advocate for the Bheri and Karnali Rivers via his daily news writing on major action plans.
